I could observe DALK, DSAEK, Phacoemulsifications done by different consultants. I also observed refractive surgeries and collagen cross linking. I was especially delighted to see the combined surgery of SFIOL & DSAEK, performed by the world’s famous Professor Donald Tan.

It was a great opportunity indeed to achieve Santen Asia Educational Grant of Asia Cornea Society for observer-ship training in cornea at Singapore National Eye Centre from 11 to 22 July, 2016. As per requirement I reported to Education Secretariat, SNEC at 1.30 P.M. on 11 July. I received a very warm welcome from secretariats of SNEC & ACS. I got my training schedule & joined the clinic on the same day. The schedule was from 8.30 to 12.30 at morning & from 1.30 to 5.30 at evening, either at the clinic or in the operation theatre.

At the clinic I had a splendid opportunity to observe a large variety of patients with different consultants. I observed the most modern diagnostic procedures and recording system of the clinic along with the mode of treatments of corneal diseases. It was especially interesting for me to witness the management of dry eye, viral keratitis and Fuchs endothelial dystrophy.

SNEC is a very clean, systematic and well organized eye care system. Every staff here along with Consultants, fellows, nurses were cooperative and cordial. I completed my training on 22 July and came back to my country with a memorable experience and enthusiasm. I will try to implement the clinical, diagnostic & surgical procedures in my hospital here at home, which I have learnt at SNEC during my observer-ship training.
