About Asia Cornea Society

Brief History

Board of ACS Council Members

A Pro Tem Council Meeting of the Asia Cornea Society (ACS) was convened with members of the previous Asia-Pacific Society of Cornea and Refractive Surgery (APSCRS) as well as other leading cornea specialists from several Asian countries, including China, Japan, India, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand on 4 March 2007 during the Asia-ARVO Meeting in Singapore.

The meeting was pivotal in determining the mission, objectives, Constitution and the future of the Society. Five Office Bearers among the thirteen Council Members were elected, with Professor Donald Tan unanimously elected to be the first President of ACS. Professor Teruo Nishida and Professor Arthur Lim were also appointed to serve as Honorary President and Honorary Senior Advisor to the Society.

Following that decisive meeting, the Asia Cornea Society was registered formally in Singapore and a new and vibrant ACS was born.
